She rests in the water, at ease within the rhythms of the sea. The moon watches, wakeful, keeping her quiet company. The stars sparkle with kind curiosity. I painted this on a wave of emotion following real world events and injustices toward women, when my heart was aching for a stranger, specifically a mother who wouldn’t return home to her child. As a mother myself, I channeled my sorrow here, with a hope that the woman now rests peacefully in the waters of time, and someday she will be reunited with her partner and little girl.
